Internal Departmental Emails Supported by
Literature Display

NewsStands are literature display stands located in high traffic areas (common rooms, cafeterias, reception & social areas) in life science and chemistry research departments, research institutes & biotech incubator complexes throughout the UK.

Literature Display

Your marketing literature is displayed on the NewsStand for a minimum of 2 weeks. You can select specific NewsStand venues or cover the whole network. You send us the required number of copies (~10 per venue) and we take care of the rest. At the end of the display any remaining copies are recycled. If all copies are taken, you get a free-of-charge re-display at a later date.

Literature Browsing

Some researchers will want their own copy of your literature and others read the literature then return it to the NewsStand - this happens particularly frequently with NewsStands in cafes, common rooms and similar locations.

Internal Email

At the start of the display period an internal email is circulated listing the contents of the NewsStand. Because it originates within the department it is more likely to be read and will not be spam filtered. You get a 50 word insert to describe your literature, link to your website, collect email enquiries, etc.

What works well on the NewsStands? Visit our 'Effective Marketing Materials' page.

The Email Only Option

If you do not have any appropriate literature, you can still have an entry in the internal email. However, availability is limited, so be sure to book well in advance.

What do departments tell us about direct mail?

Considering the time, effort and expense that goes into the production of marketing materials, it can be heartbreaking to see what happens when it arrives at its destination!

Read some Quotations

We only send mail to people who have specifically requested it!

That is something we hear quite often. So why does almost every company use prize draws (iPods, Champagne, digital cameras, etc.) at mini-exhibitions and trade shows to encourage researchers to sign up for their mail or email list? Does that mean that they have 'specifically requested' every single piece of marketing literature that is then sent to them? Departmental staff wouldn't agree; you can read more about the handling of bulk mail by academic institutions by following the link below.

Catalogue Distribution

Online catalogues are increasingly common, but paper catalogues are still required. We can offer catalogue distribution to most NewsStand venues. This can be done via a catalogue display, such as the one shown (right). In other locations we know that a fixed number of catalogues are required (e.g. one per floor or PI group) and we arrange for your catalogues to be distributed to the appropriate people (e.g. lab managers) or places (central catalogue displays or libraries). The price depends on the catalogue size and the number of venues required. Please contact us for a quotation.
